We see this sort of thing more often than one might think. Sports injuries probably are the biggest contributor. If a tooth is completely knocked out, it may be re-implanted. Don't try to clean it. Precious time is wasted and more damage may be done to the tooth. Gently wrap it in a moist paper or cloth towel and get to the dental office as soon as possible. If a portion of the tooth has been fractured, we probably won't try to reattach it. Dental restoration materials are very natural looking and are usually more suitable. If in doubt, bring the tooth fragment with you to the dental office. Just don't spend too much time looking for a piece of tooth that may be hidden in the grass. Sometimes, a tooth is loosened by a blow to the face,
but not knocked loose, at least not visibly out of line with the other
teeth. If there has been an injury of any sort and you are in doubt
about the extent of that injury, call us. |
